The Presbyterian Church (USA) cross
As many of you know the Presbyterian Church (USA) is meeting in our General Assembly starting today, so I offer this prayer for all the people involved and the decisions they will be making. FYI: used some inspiration from the Prayer of St. Augustine.
A Prayer for PC(USA) General Assembly 220
Living God,
Pour out your Holy Spirit over all those involved with GA220.
We are trying to figure out how best to be in community with each other and minister to a 21st century world.
There are some things we don’t agree about, and there will be some heated arguments.
Holy God, where there is discord help us to us sow love.
Where there is apathy help us to sow energy.
Where there is misunderstanding help us to sow empathy.
Where there is frustration help us sow patience.
Help us keep our focus on living out your callings in our lives and churches.
As we walk together illuminate our paths so we may walk in the light of your love today and everyday. Amen.
