Evening Prayer

Now I lay me on my couch
with a sigh and with a slouch
and if I sleep before I work
I’ll surely wake up with a jerk

And clamor fast to get things done
to beat the rising of the sun.
So hear me God and listen fast,
So I may not repeat the past.

All my blessings, thank you Lord.
Would list ‘em here but you’d get bored.
Bless my mother and my dad.
Sorry when I got so mad…

I think that’s it. No! One thing more!
World peace would be nice, I implore.
And when I get wrapped up in stuff,
Please turn me ’round and stop my huff.

Ok, that’s it, I got this, God;
And through my work I’ll start to plod.
But when I really go to sleep,
I pray the Lord my soul to keep.
